Cycling Trainer App Interface
Project
This project allows competitive cyclists to hone their performance with the help of their coach and also the data visualized in front of them. On this project, I was working with cycling coaches, sports scientists, and a team of engineers to make an interface that was real-time responsive to cyclist performance.
Workstyle
We worked in 2-week design sprints, with each sprint culminating in live user testing via cyclists trying the app for their workouts. They were encoraged to call out their feedback during cycling so we could dial in everything from font size to the timing of transition animations. The feedback that was obtained in user testing was incorporated into the next week’s iteration.
Challenge
Because of the involvement of sports scientists, we had lots of data to give to cyclists, but the key was knowing which pieces of data were critical, which were fun, and which were non-essential and caused the interface to become overwhelming for first-time users.
